Use each statement once

Read the texts 7-14 and the statements A-J. Decide which text matches the situation described in the statements.

There are TWO extra statements which you do not need to use.

Statements

  1. Jenny wants to buy locally-produced food traditional to the area.
  2. Matt wants a market to get something to wear at reasonable prices.
  3. Sammie wants to photograph a historic place and buy a painting by someone unknown.
  4. Alexia needs a special necklace. She doesn't want to get gold.
  5. Ella is looking for an object from other countries and wants a snack at the market.
  6. Carla has saved money and now wants to buy a car.
  7. Tom wants to buy a guitar that was hand-made there.
  8. Jeremy wants to buy a pet dog.
  9. Sara enjoys negotiating the price when buying clothes.
  10. Mary wants a used camera to take nice photos.

This market is world-famous for second-hand camera equipment and books on photography.
You can also buy old pictures of local places of interest. Stall owners are happy to give advice, and there is a hot soup stall in cold weather.

There are late-night opening hours and live performers.
You'll find paintings by both famous and beginner artists.

Prices are high, but quality is excellent. Restaurants are nearby.

A small market open in all weather conditions.
There is a wide selection of jewellery and hand-made musical instruments, all locally produced.
Home-made cakes are also available.

Situated in the historic city centre.
You'll find a wide range of clothes and jewellery.
Arrive early for bargains, and enjoy watching people pass by.

Close to museums and art galleries.
Perfect for lunch, fresh fruit, special breads, and the region's famous cheese.
Producers give advice and local bands often perform.

Teddingley Market

Situated under historic city walls.
Large selection of new and second-hand clothes at great prices.
There is also a world-food area offering food from abroad.

Frome Place

Open during normal daytime hours.
Offers gifts from all over the world, books, and a sandwich bar.
You may find old copies of books by favourite authors.
